Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, to retire from politics completely following his disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections.
Alan Kyerematen, who previously served as a key figure in the NPP, resigned from the party in 2023 after citing unfair treatment during the presidential primaries. His departure led to the formation of the Movement for Change, under which he contested the December 7, 2024, elections as an independent candidate.
Despite initial expectations of a strong challenge to the NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NDC’s John Mahama, Kyerematen’s performance fell far short, securing only 0.28% of the total votes cast and finishing fourth. His inability to rally significant electoral support has raised questions about his political future.
In an interview with TV3, monitored by NKONKONSA.com, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe advised Kyerematen to bow out of politics, emphasizing that it no longer holds promise for him.
“As far as I am concerned, I would advise Alan to walk away from politics. I don’t think he has any future in it,” he said.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe also criticized Kyerematen’s decision to serve in President Akufo-Addo’s second-term administration despite his presidential ambitions, describing it as a misstep.
“Alan had no business joining President Akufo-Addo’s second term when he knew he had presidential ambitions,” he remarked.
Kyerematen’s political journey, spanning over two decades, appears to have reached a crossroads, with political analysts attributing his poor performance to a lack of grassroots support and strategic miscalculations.
