The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has withdrawn from all Media General’s platforms, including TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM.
The announcement, conveyed in a press release on January 26 and endorsed by the party’s communications director, Richard Ahiagbah, comes after months of alleged unsuccessful efforts to tackle issues regarding biased and unprofessional behavior by Media General’s hosts and management.
The NPP states that multiple attempts to connect with the media outlet’s production staff, presenters, and management have failed to bring about significant change.
The party asserts that despite guarantees since 2023, problems with biased moderation and improper conduct persist.
The NPP expressed worries regarding the political bias of TV3’s political panels, alleging that the network puts together groups that strongly support one party more than others, which harms fair representation.
The party has urged Media General to shift from what it characterizes as an activist position and to aim to be a more balanced platform that meets the informational needs of Ghanaians.
