Famed Ghanaian gospel artist and preacher Dr. Sonnie Badu, based in the UK, has ignited discussion with his recent comments on women’s hair preferences, advising against the overuse of wigs.
While preaching at the RockHill Church, a UK-based Ghanaian pastor urged young women to accept their natural hair instead of depending on wigs, which he claimed carry significant spiritual repercussions.
Sonnie Badu expressed that a woman’s natural hair holds sacred importance, and hiding it with synthetic wigs might result in a loss of her “glory.”
He stressed that numerous women inadvertently hinder their spiritual blessings by persistently wearing wigs rather than accepting their natural beauty gifted by God.
“There is a glory that comes with being natural. Some of you do not even know the origin of the wigs you put on your head, yet you wear them daily without understanding the spiritual implications. Young ladies, learn to love your natural hair,” he passionately stated.
Although some support his perspective on self-acceptance and natural beauty, others contend that choosing to wear wigs is a personal decision and shouldn’t be connected to spirituality.
Regardless of the varied responses, Sonnie Badu stays resolute in his conviction that women ought to be considerate of their decisions, particularly concerning their looks and spiritual health.
