ARCHBISHOP DUNCAN-WILLIAMS MOVED TO TEARS BY AKUFO-ADDO AND MAHAMA’S UNITY MOMENT

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has shared an emotional account of how he was brought to tears upon seeing former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and President John Dramani Mahama sharing a warm moment during Ghana’s transitional period.

In a viral video of his sermon, the renowned preacher expressed his joy at witnessing the two political leaders, often seen as rivals, coming together in a display of unity. According to Archbishop Duncan-Williams, the sight of Akufo-Addo and Mahama in a lighthearted exchange symbolized hope for the nation and underscored the importance of collaboration among leaders, regardless of political differences.

“When I saw President Nana Akufo-Addo and the incoming President John Dramani Mahama taking pictures and shaking hands, tears flowed from my eyes. I said, ‘This is all we want to see,'” he recounted.

The Archbishop dismissed skepticism from critics who suggested the moment was staged for the cameras, emphasizing that the gesture itself was a positive step for the country. He compared the scene to similar displays of unity seen in global politics, such as the meeting between former U.S. President Barack Obama and his successor, Donald Trump.

“Even if you think it was fake, those of you who have your own thoughts and don’t believe in anything good… even when you saw them sitting together, you said it was staged. Don’t mind them. Whether it was fake or real, the fact that the two of them could sit together like we saw the President of America and President Trump sitting together in the White House—I saw the two of them sitting together like that,” he said.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams stressed that Ghana’s progress depends on leaders prioritizing the nation’s welfare over partisan interests. He expressed his desire to see more such moments of unity, where leaders set aside political differences to work for the common good.

“And they shook hands. When I saw those pictures, I said, ‘God, my heart yearns to see more of this, where our leaders can truly come together and realize that it is not about them and their political party but about the country and the good of the citizens,'” he added.
