President John Mahama has prohibited first-class travel for government ministers and appointees to promote humility and prudent spending.
He made this announcement while swearing in new ministers at the Jubilee House on 7th February 2025.
He stressed that his administration would be directed by humility and respect for the citizens of Ghana.
“The hallmark of this government will be modesty and respect for the Ghanaian people. There will be no room for arrogance and pomposity,” he stated.
To make sure all are compliant with this order, the President has directed the Chief of Staff to formally notify all ministers and government officials regarding the prohibition.
All required travel must receive prior approval from the Office of the Chief of Staff and may not feature first-class lodging.
President Mahama also cautioned against the improper use of public funds, urging government officials to be cautious with their expenditures.
“The resources you will be working with belong to the Ghanaian people who put us in office,” he said.
