The biological daughter of the deceased Maame Akua Donkor has expressed her anger regarding the surprising way her family reportedly mismanaged financial contributions intended for her mother’s funeral.
During an interview with Captain Smart, she conveyed profound disappointment upon learning that the money meant for the funeral arrangements was redirected without her awareness.
In a video, she claimed that the relatives of the deceased founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) have misappropriated the contributions intended for her mother’s funeral.
Remember that after Akua Donkor passed away, friends and family contributed generously to express their affection for the deceased politician. Reports indicated that the family even turned down some of the donations.
For example, the former running mate of Akua Donkor, Roman Fada, donated GH¢15,000 to her family as his part for the funeral. Nonetheless, the family turned down the money.
In a recent interview, several family members also verified that they received GH¢100,000 from the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Regarding the expenditure of the funds, Akua Donkor’s daughter stated that she neither received nor witnessed the donations for her mother’s funeral and related costs.
The young woman who spoke on Onua TV also claimed the funds were not utilized for their intended purpose.
She alleged that certain relatives took the money for their own advantage, and when she asked for clarification, she was informed that the funds had been utilized to renovate the family’s home.
She further asserts that the relatives are asking her for additional funds for the funeral, even after obtaining the GH¢100,000 contribution, and have suggested that she secure a loan to cover the funeral expenses.
