NMAG EXECUTIVES MEET HON. FELIX KWAKYE OFOSU TO FOSTER COLLABORATION BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND DIGITAL MEDIA

The executives of the New Media Association of Ghana (NMAG) paid a courtesy call to Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, focused on exploring collaboration opportunities to improve information dissemination and strengthen the role of digital media in national development.

During the discussions, NMAG emphasized the critical need to integrate new media platforms into government communication strategies. The association highlighted the growing influence of digital media in shaping public opinion and its potential to bridge the gap between the government and citizens. NMAG proposed the establishment of educational programs and capacity-building initiatives to equip digital media practitioners with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving media landscape effectively.

Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu welcomed the proposals and expressed his enthusiasm for collaboration. He acknowledged the pivotal role of digital media in modern communication and reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging these platforms to engage with citizens more effectively. 

The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening the relationship between the government and digital media practitioners. Both parties agreed to establish a framework for ongoing collaboration, which will include regular consultations, joint initiatives, and the development of policies to support the growth of the digital media industry.

This development comes at a time when digital media is increasingly becoming a primary source of information for Ghanaians, particularly the youth. By fostering a collaborative environment, the government and NMAG aim to harness the power of digital platforms to promote transparency, accountability, and civic engagement.
