Communications Minister Sam George has decided to dismiss almost 100 employees from Ghana Post Limited because their hiring process did not follow the correct procedures.
This group of workers was employed after the December 7, 2024, election, during a time when the proper recruitment methods were not adhered to.
Sam George stressed his responsibility to ensure that his ministry employs only those who were hired through appropriate channels.
As the leader of the ministry, he cannot continue working with staff whose employment was not secured through standard protocols.
“If you are a minister and you take over a ministry that has 3,117 staff in the ministry and its agencies and 600 were recruited after December 7, you cannot expect me to come and inherit such a mess, and so the rationalisation is ongoing,” he told the press on Tuesday.
The minister further explained that this irregular recruitment led to positions being filled incorrectly, which caused inefficiencies in the department.
By addressing these issues, Sam George aims to improve the department’s operations and ensure that all employment processes are conducted properly.
The Ningo-Prampram legislator emphasised that he is on a mission to “Clean up the ministry to make sure that it is lean and efficient and carries out its works.”
