SHATTA WALE ISSUES PUBLIC APOLOGY AND RETRACTION OVER FALSE ALLEGATIONS LINKING BULLDOG TO MUR.DER OF FENNEC OKYERE

Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has issued a formal retraction and public apology to Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog, over a series of social media posts made on November 2, 2022.

In a signed letter dated April 30, 2025, Shatta Wale admitted that the statements he previously published — which suggested Bulldog had a hand in the murder of artiste manager Fennec Okyere, were misunderstood or misconstrued as confessions from Bulldog. He clarified that he had no intention of claiming Mr. Hanson was involved in the murder.

“The publications included a statement that I have now come to know was generally misunderstood or misconstrued as Mr. Hanson’s confessions to me… I wish to retract each of the statements,” the letter read.

In addition to the murder claim, Shatta Wale also acknowledged that some of his statements had imputed immorality or improper social behavior to Bulldog and other public figures.

He extended an apology not only to Mr. Hanson but also to anyone else affected by the remarks, expressing remorse for the pain, shame, and ridicule his comments may have caused.

This public retraction marks a significant moment in a long-standing and highly publicised rift between the two figures in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
