2 MORE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH FORMER SANITATION MINISTER CECILIA DAPAAH’S HOME THEFT

On Wednesday, August 2, police prosecutor DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye announced in court that two more suspects had been taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe into the stolen monies from the home of former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah.

Initially, five people—including two of the former Minister’s housemaids—were detained on suspicion of taking $100,000, $300,000, and priceless personal items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.

However, due to detectives continuing their case-related enquiries in Tamale, these accused individuals were not present in court.

The case now has seven accused people in total following the most recent arrests of the two extra suspects.

Sarah Agyei, the second accused, who is one of the accused, was given release last week but has not yet complied with the bail requirements.

The newly detained individuals and the other six have been remanded into police custody.

In order to accommodate ongoing inquiries and to handle Sarah Agyei’s bail situation, the case has been postponed until August 8.

The second accused’s attorney, Augustine Gyamfi, however, voiced frustration over what he claimed were attempts by the Police to obstruct their efforts to adhere to the bail conditions.
