A fatal crash on the Akyem Akroso-Asamankese road in the Eastern region on Sunday, November 12, 2023, has resulted in the loss of eight lives, leaving several others with severe injuries.
The crash occurred when a White Toyota Hiace, bearing registration number GM 3150-13 and aboard with fifteen passengers from Bantama, a suburb of Akim Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso district , collided with a Pontiac Vibe private car with registration number GG 3528-14 en route from Asamankese to Achiase.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the speeding Pontiac Vibe suffered a burst tyre, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the Toyota Hiace, leading to the fatal outcome.
Prompt response from emergency services saw the injured rushed to the Asamankese Government Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Tragically, eight individuals lost their lives in the accident, and their bodies were conveyed to the hospital’s morgue.
