FORMER MINISTER OF INTERIOR, MARK WOYONGO DIES AT 78

Latest reports on social media indicate that the former Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central and former interior Minister, Mark Owen Woyongo is dead.

The news of his death was confirmed by some of his followers on social media, who expressed their condolences and tributes.

The cause and place of his death are not yet clear, but it is believed that he died on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

The former Interior Minister recently buried his son, Kenneth Kwotua, who died at age 49.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Wuni Woyongo, and two children.

Mark Woyongo was a veteran politician and a communicator, who served in various capacities in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments.
He was the MP for Navrongo Central from 2013 to 2017, after winning the seat in the 2012 election. He lost the seat in the 2016 election to Joseph Kofi Adda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and retired from politics.

He was also the Minister for the Upper East Region from 2009 to 2012, the Minister for Defence from 2013 to 2014, and the Minister for the Interior from 2014 to 2017.
