GHANA’S RAP MUSIC ONLY TALKS ABOUT MONEY – Kafui Dey Laments

The majority of local rap music, according to television host Kafui Dey, only mentions money or emphasizes how an artist is wealthier than his peers in the lyrics.

He recently demonstrated to his followers how the majority of Ghanaian rappers focus their energy on discussing money in their songs in a tweet.

Kafui Dey questioned whether rap music is solely about “money,” given that it is now customary for singers to boast about their fortune to the public.

The tweet sighted by GhanaWeb read: “Listening to some Ghanaian rap on radio and all the songs are about making money, how much money they have, how they will make money by all means, how they have money more than other people etc.”

“Every verse has ‘sika’ or ‘money’ Is that all there is to rap about?” Kafui quizzed.

Kafui is not the first one to bring the new trend to the public’s attention.

Yet, it is not apparent whether or if “money” sells in the rap industry or whether listeners enjoy hearing about financial incentive in rhymes.
