Actor and politician, John Dumelo has disclosed the reasons behind his defeat in the 2020 parliamentary elections in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
During an interview with Bola Ray on Starr FM that GhanaWeb listened to, Dumelo said that a few errors in judgment during the election prevented him from winning.
He cited the absence of students from the constituency’s numerous postsecondary institutions on campus as one of the reasons, which had a negative impact on his votes.
Dumelo asserts that he might have done a better job if there had been pupils there.
He also claimed that his team’s failure to approach most of the residents to ask for support stemmed from their lack of seriousness about the door-to-door campaign.
Further speaking, Dumelo assured that he has learned his lessons and will put in the best efforts to ensure that he wins the forthcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
“The last time I was telling somebody that this time around, we are not working hard, but we are working smart, We need to be able to look at the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents and use that for ourselves. So I think we’ve learned so many lessons. We’ve dotted our I’s and crossed our t’s, and we know why we lost, and we know how we can win in 2024.”
John Dumelo will be competing with the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
