I SACRIFICED A LOT SERVING IN AKUFO-ADDO’S GOV’T – Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng

Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has said he sacrificed a lot during the four-year period he served in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government.

He stated that he had two hospitals and other businesses running but had to redirect his attention to the ministerial work.

Above all, he said, he did not have much time for his grandchildren.

Speaking to TV3’s Kemini Amanor in the Hot Issue on TV3 on Sunday, October 22, he said “Serving in government was for me a sacrifice, I had to sacrifice a lot to serve in our government. Other people may see it as a privilege or as a means to make money but to me, it was a big sacrifice serving in government. It is my pleasure to have been given the chance to serve this nation and I think that I did my work very well.

“I do other things, I run two hospitals  I have other businesses that, family things that I had to cater for. some of these things suffered above all, I didn’t have much time for my grandchildren. I am not bitter, a lot came from my appointment. You will not find many ministers who achieved what  I achieved within the four years that I served.”

Prof Frimpong-Boateng further said he is not a traitor to the cause of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following his criticisms of the government of the day.

He said he desired to make the governing NPP and Ghana as a whole stronger.

Speaking with TV3’s Kemini Amanor on the Hot Issues on TV3 Sunday, October 22, he said “I don’t think I am criticizing or attacking the government, no. The president said  were should be citizens and not spectators so I am offering my views  to make the party stronger and Ghana a better place.”

Asked whether he would consider himself a traitor in the NPP? he answered “Not at all. I am patriotic, that is what I will say. The word traitor is too far away from my dwelling place.”
