NO GHANA CARD, NO ELECTRICITY METER – Energy Minister

The Minister for Energy and MP for the Ashanti Region’s Manhyia South Constituency, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said very soon Ghanaians without Ghana Cards won’t be allowed to access prepared meters.

“Very soon, you wouldn’t be able to get a meter if you didn’t have a Ghana Card. It is all about development,” he said in an interview on Peace FM.

He spoke further and said this new initiative which will soon be rolled out is a component of the government’s plan for energy sector development, according to the minister.

“I abide by the laws put forth by this nation. According to the country’s regulations, you must follow certain procedures if you require a meter, the Minister said.

In other news, Lydia Forson recently clashed with a tweep for spewing garbage in connection with the SIM Card re-registration and its corresponding Ghana Card.

The tweep who is obviously aligned to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and thus belongs to the only cluster of people defending this registration despite the vast inconvenience and anomalies, blasted Ghanaians for showing reluctance in taking part in the registration exercise.

“No excuses, if it was free money being shared, you will see how Ghanaians will be jumping over themselves to be paid. Just go and register your SIM card for your own security against cyber fraudsters defrauding you,” he posted on Twitter.

The actress, however, caught him off guard by blasting him- saying; “Kwasia even you, you’re here tweeting nonsense for free money let alone someone who’s hungry.

You want poor people to stop their hustle to stand in long lines and risk going to be hungry, for what? You people just FOOL that’s why you’re writing this from a fake account.”
