NPP GOVERNMENT HAS DONE WELL FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS SECTOR – Music Producer, Fredyma

Fredyma, a renowned sound engineer, has praised the government for providing opportunities for artists to succeed.

Following criticism from multiple entertainment industry figures, such as Ras Kuuku and Kojo Preko Dankwa, the government is being accused of lacking dedication to the creative arts sector.

According to graphic.com.gh, Fredyma noted that the government’s initiatives have had a positive impact on various creative sectors such as event coordination, fashion, and concerts, not limited to just theatre and music.

Fredyma observed that the NPP government has created a favourable atmosphere which has provided great prospects for artists in different sectors.

He admitted that certain projects are behind schedule, but the government has started many initiatives in hopes of completing them by year’s end.

“First of all, the NPP government has not neglected the creative industry despite not being able to complete certain projects in time. However, some have been started in earnest, hoping for their completion by the end of the year. It is better late than never,” he said.

He also noted that even though there are typical grievances, the NPP government has greatly backed the creative industry.

“Like Oliver Twist, we will always ask for more. The NPP government has opened the floodgate for creatives to benefit despite the complaints, which is normal. Comparatively, the NPP government has done well for the creative industry,” Fredyma stated.

Fredyma highlighted that discussions about the creative industry frequently center on the theaters proposed in the NPP’s 2016 manifesto.

Nevertheless, he stressed that the sector includes more than just music and theatre.

“The conversation around the table concerning the creative industry when the NPP assumed office tilted more towards the theatres they promised to build across the country in their 2016 manifesto. We, however, forget that the industry doesn’t revolve around only music and theatre,” he added.
