Ex-President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana assured Nursing trainees that his government would prioritize job creation.
He believes that nursing trainees require employment post-graduation rather than just allowances.
Concerned about the surplus of nurses in the country, he believes that eliminating allowances could have potentially opened up job opportunities.
The NDC presidential candidate revealed this while speaking to a group of nursing students.
”We know the problems with trainee nurses and that is why when we were in government we said we were going to substitute your allowances with the students loan. That is because we wanted to create more employment for you. The important thing is not the allowance but it is to get the job when you finish school,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry has given clearance for the employment of 15,200 nurses across the country.
