Sensual is a 7min 19sec album which offers the opportunity for the acts to express their creative genius whilst talking about their personal experiences in the Lagos and UK dating environment.
As Drake is to Canada, Andremussic and Boluhwtf is to UK & Nigeria. They talk about sexual relations without the use of explicit words, and it is not devoid of harmony and rhythm.
The appeal of the work comes from the originality that is maintained throughout the album; the lyricism and production. If this is an experiment from both acts, it worked – push further.
The first track ‘Sensual’ is drugged with appealing melodies and hooks, both intentionally written and gibberish. The second track ‘Tonight’ has a rather solemn intro but soon gain bass momentum with both acts having their time on the mic to illustrate their pen game. The chorus talks about wanting to be present tonight, we all know it “Netflix and Chill” Lol.
The album spins out with the best track in ‘Jaga Jaga’ that talks about not settling for less in my opinion and avoiding troubles as in “wahala”
On the EP, they use echoey vocals, a superb lead section, and an overall lo-fi sound while remaining anchored in the familiar warmth and tranquilly of any singer-songwriter song. Whereas their EP has been described as a more fantastical, sprawling journey in terms of production elements courtesy of Boluhwtf, “Sensual” demonstrates that AndreMussic & Boluhwtf can ably navigate a somewhat understated sonic setting as the track swells to guitar rhythms and a glowing drum section.
This is an obvious 8/10 for me. The pen-game is top notch and also the instrumentation.
This is definitely one for listeners worldwide.
