As the ‘most streamed female artist’ in 2022, Ghanaian vocalist Wendy Shay has once again shown why she is the queen of Ghana music.
Wendy Shay, a Ruff Town Records artist, was the only female Ghanaian artist to have a song listed in Boomplay’s weekly top 100 songs chart earlier this year.
Black Sherif’s “Kwaku the Traveler” placed ninth on the charts, while Wendy Shay’s well-known song Survivor reached the Boomplay charts.
Gyakie and Diana Hamilton, who dropped to the second and third spots on the chart, were bested by Wendy Shay on the recently released list.
Wendy Shay pulled 30.9 million plus streams with over 2 million listeners. Also, Boomplay recorded that Wendy Shay’s Survivor was streamed mostly in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya.
Wendy Shay’s song Survivor was released in May 2022 and was the first song she released after she took a break from the music space. She later released her EP titled “Enigma” which has the viral ‘Habiba’ song.
