Popular Kumawood actor Kojo Nkansah aka Lil Win believes Ghana Movie Awards has lost its credibility and as a result, most actors are no longer interested in it.
According to him, the euphoria that came with the awards has eroded and that it’s a shame that an award scheme such as the Ghana Movie Awards which celebrated players in the movie industry is now nothing to write home about.
He shared this opinion today, Wednesday, December 12 on Showbiz Agenda hosted by Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM. Lil Win said the whole scheme is not credible hence the reason actors have lost interest in the awards and it is almost collapsing.
“How can you give favourite actor to John Dumelo when Lil Win is around? I don’t have any problem with you giving Best Actor to John Dumelo or Majid but giving Favourite Actor to any of these actors is wrong” he revealed.
According to him, he is popular and acts better than most of the popular English speaking actors in Ghana but the Ghana Movie Awards boards refuse to do their homework and .
He revealed that he is no more interested in the Ghana Movie Awards because it is a joke. “I have grown pass Ghana Movie Awards. I am making money from my movies and my music and care less about Ghana Movie Awards” he said.
Lil Win pleaded with the organisers of Ghana Movie Awards to sit up if they want to be taken seriously.
Asked if he was participating in this year’s edition, Lil Win said he is not sure the awards scheme is even coming on since nothing has been heard about although 2018 is almost ended.
“I will be surprised if it comes off. Which actors are they going to award? I would be surprised because in my opinion, the preparation towards the ceremony is too short to pull off anything meaningful” he added.
Known for movies like Osama, Mama Recharge Card, Sergeant Lil Win, The Foolish Gateman, Abusua Meferi, Black Warrior, Mpaebo among others, Li Win said he is grateful to his fans for the love they always show him through out his career.
