OTTO ADDO APOLOGIZES TO REFEREE AFTER GHANA-PORTUGAL GAME

Otto Addo, the head coach of the Ghana Black Stars, has apologized for disparaging referee Ismail Elfath during the game between Ghana and Portugal.

Remember how many Ghanaians and supporters became irrational following the conclusion of the football game?

Ghanaians slammed the referee for giving Christiano Ronaldo of Portugal the incorrect penalty during the football game. The referee was criticized on social media and accused by several of being racist.

Otoo Addo, the coach of the Black Stars, also cited the referee as the cause of Ghana’s loss on Thursday, alleging that the official had been in favor of the Europeans.

He said, “The referee was not in our favor. I think you have to ask the referee. I have no proof of that. We were playing the ball and there was contact. I don’t know whether they were not paying or whether the VAR was not paying attention. If you look at the replay, we played the ball, it was actually a foul against us”.

Yesterday in the pre-match conference, Addo expressed regret for his remarks and expressed optimism that FIFA would not punish him.

“Up to this point we didn’t get any answer (from FIFA), maybe I can use this stage now to apologize If I was too rude but I was very emotional after the match. Hopefully, I won’t get a fine”.
