I WILL MAKE SURE GOV’T MAKES THE RIGHT INVESTMENTS IN TOURISM SECTOR TO CREATE JOBS – Mercer

The ministerial nominee for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer has promised to maintain government investment in the industry in order to promote job possibilities.

Mercer emphasized the tourism sector’s significant job development potential, which may substantially alleviate the country’s mounting unemployment issues.

The Sekondi Member of Parliament emphasized the strategic importance of tourism and cited notable programs like the Year of Return, highlighting their contributions to drawing foreign investment to Ghana.

The minister-designate acknowledged the efforts being made by the administration, but emphasized the need for more to better the lot of Ghanaians.

He reaffirmed his commitment to bringing energy and innovation to ministry operations and pushed for increased cooperation with the private sector in order to forward the country’s tourism strategy.

In his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, March 5,

“So, I will ensure that the government makes the right investments. Already, a lot has been done in terms of the project, product and the marketing of the Year of Return, for example, December in Ghana has created huge jobs but a lot more has to be done, and it will be my responsibility then to ensure the right investments in the sector are done to ensure job creation,” he said.

Andrew Egyapa Mercer is the first appointee to be vetted following the nomination of ministers and deputies by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently.
