GHANA MUSIC INDUSTRY SHOULD HAVE A CATEGORY FOR DANCERS – Endurance Grand

Dancer and content creator, Endurance Grand has emphasized how important it is to recognize dancers’ contributions to songs, particularly during prestigious occasions like the Ghana Music Awards.

Her remarks came during a conversation held as part of the Pulse Chat Session at this year’s African Music Business Dialogue, themed ‘Why Content Creators are the New Taste Makers in Music Marketing.’ The event occurred on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Renowned dance industry personality Endurance Grand expressed her worry about the lack of acknowledgement and payment for dancers’ labor.

“Do you know where I feel underpaid? That is when I don’t get credit for the work I do,” she remarked.

She brought out the fact that, despite their significant impact on songs, dancers are not given their own categories at competitions like the Ghana Music Awards.

“Looking at Ghana Music Awards, why isn’t there a category for dancers that are dedicated to songs, especially because we add a ‘salt bay’ to the song?” she questioned.

She went into more detail about how important it is to give dancers credit, particularly when their choreography makes a song successful.

“And then the song is a hit and you’ve won an award for it, why don’t we have a category for that? Why don’t you give us credit when we’ve choreographed?” she said.

Endurance Grand underlined how important it is for dancers and musicians to work together, stressing that every music video in Ghana needs to include strong choreography.

With Gideon Nicholas Day moderating, the conversation also included perspectives from other speakers, such as Mr. Drew and Official Starter. The main idea emphasized how important content producers are becoming as key influencers in the music industry.

In her statement, Endurance Grand highlighted the sometimes-underappreciated impact dancers make to the music business and urged all parties involved to take this into account and give them the credit and compensation they deserve.

Endurance Grand emphasized the value of dancers and musicians working together in the music business and the necessity of excellent choreography in each and every music video made in Ghana.
