I WON’T PAY INSTRUMENTALISTS IN MY CHURCH, YOU CAN’T DEMAND TO BE PAID BEFORE YOU SING — Bishop Dag Heward Mills

Serious discussion is being sparked by Lighthouse Chapel International General Overseer, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills’ recent remarks regarding musicians requesting payment for their services in churches.

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills stated unequivocally that genuine worship should not be accompanied by a cost in a video that has been making the rounds online.

He said, “Watch out for people who only do things for money. In my church, I told everyone I’m not paying people to play instruments because I play them myself. I play drums, piano, guitar—you name it.”

The intriguing part is that he did something about it rather than merely whining about it.

Every child in his church now learns to play the piano thanks to Dag’s establishment of a music school.

Now, every child in my church can play the piano,” he proudly shared.

According to Dag Heward Mills, serving in the church is about loving Jesus, not about earning money.

“Nobody can come into our church and demand to be paid before they sing. It’s nonsense. If you’re here, you serve because you love Jesus. If not, then it’s time to go.”
